    Game Summary:

Brine Gill pitched a complete game, yielding 2-unearned runs on only 2 hits. Gill struck out 11 en route to victory. North Shore manufactured several unearned runs during the game. The big hit was a run-scoring double by Kyle Gorton in the 2-run North Shore 3rd inning. North Shore failed to blow the game open in the 4th inning, as they stranded the bases loaded with no one out (after scoring one run). Patchogue/Medford then cut the lead in half on 2-unearned runs in their half of the 4th inning. North Shore's lead was preserved with the tying run on base in the 6th, when an attempt by the Patchogue/Medford runner on 1st base to advance on a ball in the dirt, was gunned down by Ritchie Cambria, with Nick Hayman hanging onto the ball as the runner barreled into him at 2nd base. This happened with Patchogue/Medford's cleanup batter (and tying run) at the plate, and no one out. By virtue of this win, North Shore moves to the District 36 Championship Round, since we are the only unbeaten team remaining in District 36. We will play the winner of the Loser's bracket, who will need to beat us twice to win the Championship. A victory by North Shore in the next game, will clinch the 2006 District 36 Championship for the North Shore Little League All-Stars.
